Why is A/C Maintenance Important?
Regular maintenance of your air conditioner is essential for optimal operation and long life. Here are some key reasons why air conditioning maintenance is crucial:
- Efficiency and energy savings: A well-maintained air conditioner works more efficiently. By regularly cleaning or replacing filters and checking the system, you ensure that the air conditioner uses less energy. This leads to lower energy costs and more sustainable use of your system.
- Improved Air Quality: During maintenance, filters and air ducts are cleaned. This helps to remove dust, allergens and other contaminants, resulting in better air quality in your home or office. A clean air conditioner contributes to a healthier indoor environment.
- Preventing Problems: Regular maintenance allows technicians to identify potential problems early and fix them before they cause serious damage. This can prevent costly repairs and uncomfortable situations in the future.
- Extended Lifetime: By properly maintaining your air conditioner, you extend its life. A well-maintained system can operate smoothly for years, saving significantly on replacement costs.
- Warranty conditions: Many manufacturers impose maintenance requirements to keep the warranty valid. By having regular maintenance carried out, you ensure that you comply with these requirements and that your warranty does not expire.
Legal duty
From 1 January 2015, the rules regarding leak checks have changed. Leak checks are carried out during the maintenance of your split air conditioning installation. If your air conditioning installation has a refrigerant content with a CO2 equivalent of 5 tonnes or higher, you are obliged to have the installations serviced annually. For all installations below 5 tonnes, there are no mandatory checks.
The latest generation of air conditioners uses 2 different refrigerants. R410A and R32. R32 is the latest generation and has a lower CO2 equivalent. We recommend having installations with older refrigerants replaced and disposed of by a specialist.
Co2 equivalent per refrigerant
Aircobrabant only works with the latest generation of refrigerants.
R32 mandatory monitoring from: 7.5 kg = 5,063 tonnes
R410A mandatory monitoring from: 2.3 kg = 5,011 tonnes
