Request a quoteBuying a ceiling-mounted air conditioner: what you need to know
A ceiling-mounted air conditioner is fixed to the ceiling and blows air horizontally across the room. It is the ideal solution for larger spaces without a suspended ceiling where a cassette unit is not possible, such as shops, gyms and showrooms. Aircobrabant supplies only ceiling units from Daikin and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, brands we have been installing for more than 20 years for homeowners and businesses in Eindhoven and the surrounding area.
When should you choose a ceiling unit?
A ceiling unit is the best choice for larger spaces without a suspended ceiling, where a wall-mounted unit has insufficient reach and a cassette unit cannot be used. The unit is mounted on the ceiling and blows air horizontally across the room in two directions, which cools large areas effectively. Ceiling units are available in higher capacities than most wall-mounted units, which makes them suitable for spaces with a higher heat load. See the full range of Daikin ceiling units and Mitsubishi ceiling units.
What capacity do you need?
As a rule of thumb, allow 0.04 to 0.06 kW per cubic metre of space for most commercial applications. For a showroom or shop of 80 m² with a ceiling height of 3 m, that gives a model of 9 to 14 kW. Factors such as occupancy, lighting and exposure to the sun can adjust this. Our advisers calculate the exact capacity free of charge during the survey.
What are the advantages of a ceiling unit compared with other types?
A ceiling unit combines a high capacity with a relatively compact housing. The unit is visible on the ceiling but has a sleek look that suits most commercial environments. Compared with a cassette unit, no suspended ceiling is needed, which makes installation easier in existing buildings. Compared with a wall-mounted unit, a ceiling unit offers a greater reach and higher capacities, making it suitable for spaces where a wall-mounted unit falls short.

A ceiling unit is the better choice if there is no suspended ceiling. Also take a look at our cassette units if you do have a suspended ceiling.
What capacity do I need for my space?
Allow 0.04 to 0.06 kW per cubic metre as a starting point for commercial spaces. During the survey, our advisers calculate the exact capacity for you free of charge, taking into account occupancy, lighting and exposure to the sun.
How much does a ceiling-mounted air conditioner cost including installation?
A ceiling-mounted air conditioner including installation starts at € 3.986 excl. VAT at Aircobrabant. The exact price depends on the model chosen, the capacity required and the complexity of the installation. You always receive a fixed quote in advance.
