Buying a wall-mounted air conditioner: what you need to know

A wall-mounted unit is the most widely used type of split air conditioner for the home and the office. The indoor unit hangs high on the wall and cools or heats the room quickly and almost silently. Aircobrabant supplies only wall-mounted units from Daikin and Mitsubishi, brands we have been installing for more than 20 years for homeowners and businesses in Eindhoven and the surrounding area.

Single-split or multi-split?

A single-split system consists of one indoor unit and one outdoor unit. That is the simplest choice if you want to cool or heat one room. If you want to cover several rooms, a multi-split system is more efficient: several indoor units share one outdoor unit. That saves on both purchase and installation costs, and you only have one outdoor unit on the façade.

What capacity do you need?

We work with a standard of 35 watts of cooling capacity per cubic metre. For a living room of 40 m² with a ceiling height of 2.6 m, that gives a model of 3 to 4 kW. Factors such as exposure to the sun, roof insulation and roof windows can adjust this. Not sure? Our advisers calculate the exact capacity free of charge during the survey.

What should you look for when choosing?

Capacity is the most important factor, but not the only one. Also look at the noise level of the indoor unit, especially for the bedroom. Daikin and Mitsubishi models start at just 19 dB. Do you want to control the air conditioner remotely or connect it to a smart home system? This is included as standard with most models in our range.
